JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Duke Neurology clinic located in Raleigh, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Medical and Nursing staff in a variety of tasks including: rooming patients, taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
Prepare clinic and EMG rooms.
Prepare biopsy tray as ordered by physician.
Tee-up drug refills as directed.
Assist with prior authorization needs for prescriptions.
Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
Assist with collection of laboratory specimens. Coordinate send-off to third party labs.
Explain treatment procedures to patients.
Obtain and scan medical records.
Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
BLS required
No experience required beyond Education/Training requirement, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
