SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Medical Assistant / MA will be responsible for providing assistance for various health care services within the scope of a Medical Assistant Certification under the direction of a Physician or APP in order to meet patient and provider needs within a practice site. The Medical Assistant / MA will be deployed to different practice sites throughout the Medical Group based on staffing needs. This position requires flexibility and traveling to different clinics on and off campus based on staffing needs and changes. The contingency pool provides a great opportunity for employee work life balance and encourages professional growth. The contingency pool provides a unique experience by creating and empowering a wealth of knowledge among several different specialties and clinical settings. Additionally, the Medical Assistant / MA will receive floating premium pay as part of their compensation in being flexible and adaptable to traveling among various practice sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
High School diploma or equivalent required
Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date; OR
Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
Previous outpatient experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent communication skills
Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach
Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations
Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
