Performs patient observation, data collection related to patient care, administers medication, treatment and procedures, implements the plan of nursing care and communicates findings to the supervising RN. Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating and collaborating with the healthcare team to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patients. Promotes the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Our Heart and Vascular Institute is the first and only program in Colorado to receive full Heart Failure Accreditation status from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. The Ortho Surgical department at Porter Adventist Hospital is a 24-bed unit caring for total knee and hip arthroplasty patients affiliated with Colorado Joint Replacement or Dr. White. The average daily census ranges from eight to sixteen. The unit does not take overflow patients. Ortho Surgical unit creates a positive patient experience while preparing patients for discharge, which can be on the same day as the surgery or on post-op day one. Unit day shift nurses have from five to twelve years of experience. Currently, night shift nurses work Monday through Thursday nights. The unit is closed on weekends and most holidays. Nurses want to join our department because of the great team, low staff turnover, and high patient satisfaction.
