Work Hours/Shift:
PRN (Possibly 24 hours a week, flexible days, no weekends at this time)
You Will Be Responsible For:
INFORMATION/CLERICAL SERVICES: Basic computer and keyboarding skills. Ability to learn and use the Laboratory Information Systems.
TEAMWORK: Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in managing departmental workflow, following all department and hospital policies and procedures. Commitment to schedule flexibility working in alternate hours as needed. Assists in collecting, preparing and staining Fine Needle Aspirations slides for adequacy in surgical and radiology areas.
FINANCIAL: Employee demonstrates good time management avoiding, missed punches, casual overtime and adheres to hospital policy regarding to break and lunch periods. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact for departmental practice in the delivery of laboratory services.
REGULATORY: Basic knowledge and adherence to hospital and laboratory regulatory requirements including CAP, CLIA, Florida Statutes as well as Joint Commission.
LABORATORY SKILLS: Adheres to policies and procedures for all histology sample receipt and processing. Accession Surgical and Cytology specimens accurately and efficiently. Performs all assigned preventative maintenance including appropriate documentation. Ensure specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received. Preparation, specimen requirements and documentation of send outs and returned materials. Maintains slides and block filing system.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Maintains competencies in all assigned procedures, departments duties, including timely completion of assigned competency assessments. Completes all assigned policy or procedure review assignments. Demonstrates commitment to professional and personal growth – i.e. completes all mandatory educational requirements, 100 % review of assigned departmental meeting minutes and information, and acts as a preceptor as needed. Participates in peer interviewing process and peer review processes as requested.
SAFETY: Adheres to Laboratory safety guidelines regarding proper use of personal protective equipment.
