M Health Fairview has an immediate opening for an Intake Coordiantor at the M Health Fairview Maplewood Spine Clinic located in Maplewood, MN.
This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The Intake Coordinator duties include:
Coordinates the intake process for the patients
Manages schedules and all patient admissions and appointments in the scheduling system
Performs patient admitting functions and enters their information into the system, verifies insurance eligibility and obtains insurance authorization
Expectations:
Identifies patient needs, verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization. Obtains detailed patient information to schedule admissions, evaluations into our Inpatient and Outpatient/MICD programs.
Answers multiple phone lines, takes calls from patients, family members, physicians, other hospital staff and external customers. Triage phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
Schedules appointments for new and return visits using scheduling system and ensures that accurate client and clinical information is passed along to appropriate persons and/or departments.
Submits patient billing charge slips accurately and timely using billing system. Identifies any issues with the charge slip prior to submitting to the business office.
Maintains patient confidentiality in all aspects of the job and understands Release of Information policies and procedures.
Attends daily Unit Team meeting to prepare each day for admissions, discharges and insurance concerns.
Coordinates Inpatient clients discharge with a referral into our HealthEast Outpatient programs.
Acts as a liaison between other departments in communicating pertinent information.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred: Medical Secretary training and completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
Experience
Required: Secretarial experience in a medical setting or equivalent required. Previous scheduling and computer experience preferred.
