The Orthopedic Oncology group led by Dr. James Wittig at Morristown Medical center is looking for a well qualified Full Time Physician Assistant with Orthopedic Experience.

Essential Job Function:

• Obtains a detailed and accurate history, performs physical examinations and identifies problems in the office, clinic, emergency room and hospital setting
• Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
• Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals
  
• Conduct independent office hours as part of an initial consultation and/or follow up visit
• Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens
• Conduct hospital rounds and consultations, write orders, and take call for the Orthopaedic surgeon
• Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals
• Write postoperative orders, admission orders, brief operative notes
• Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopaedic devices
• Develops health education programs and materials

Knowledge, Education and Skills:

• Successful completion of an approved physicians assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
• min 3-5 years of orthopedic experience preferred (2020 graduates will not be considered)

Required Certification/Licensing:

• Certification by the National Commission for Certified Physicians Assistants
• Registered and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.
• RNFA preferred
